Geek Food: BBQ Chicken Sandwich & Bourbon Marinated Steak

It's summer time and that means sun, fun and food. Most geeks I know love food but hate how long it takes them away from what ever activities they are doing. Whether it's the more social geeks who are out with friends having fun or the more hard core nerd and dweeb categories who are busy at their terminals avoiding the big bright ball every single one of them wants good food but doesn't want it to take to long. To that end I submit both of these recipes for your approval.

BBQ Chicken Sandwich

1.5lbs Chicken Breast
1 Bottle of your favorite BBQ Sauce
Fresh Salt and Pepper
4 Buns(take your pick)
Leaf Lettuce
Any other burger/sandwich toppings
4 Slices of your favorite cheese
Butter or Substitute

Cook your chicken as you normally prefer but be sure to baste the chicken with the BBQ sauce. The healthy way to prepare the chicken is to grill it of course but if you want it really tasty consider baking or broiling it. The result with that method is much better flavor because the fat mixes in to the BBQ sauce and makes a super tasty(but far less healthy) version of a BBQ gravy. When the chicken is done take a fork and tear the chicken breast up to create pulled chicken.

To prep your buns toast them till they are just starting to show the golden brown color. Put on a very light coat of butter or substitute and add a sprinkle of salt and pepper and then top with cheese. Toast in the oven or toaster oven for another minute till the cheese is starting to melt over the bun.

Now put the sandwich together. Clean your veggies and put them on one side of the bun. Put the pulled chicken on the other. Top the chicken half with BBQ sauce or gravy. You can throw in a side of fruit, veggies or rice and you've got a super tasty, super easy summer time dish. Enjoy!

Bourbon Marinated Steak

1/4 Cup Bourbon(Whiskey)
1/4 Cup Dijon Mustard
4 Tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
1.5lbs Flank Steak

Mix all ingredients in a large bowl. Put the marinade and steak in a bowl, dish or zip lock bag for at least 3 hours. If you would like steak that is a little more tender let it marinate for up to 24 hours but if you are going to do this be sure to refrigerate the steak and marinade. Grill or Broil to how ever you prefer your steak. Eat it up! Easy!
